Fabulous Fluffy Friday Furniture

Ok, so I'm madly packing for a one week trip (I leave tomorrow morning and am still in my pyjamas, aaaaaarrrrrgh) but have nevertheless found the time to share with you guys, and with the highest pleasure of course, a fun and fabulous Friday story.

This very cute and attractive furniture piece is, very appropriately, called the Cabbage Chair, and was designed by Japanese group nendo for the '21st Century Man exhibition' curated by Issey Miyake in 2008 to commemorate the first anniversary of 21_21 Design Sight in Roppongi, Tokyo. So it dates back a little, but I think it still adds a nice quirky tang to a laid-back and fun Friday post. The project comes to life by the transformation of a roll of pleated paper into a small chair that appears naturally as you peel away its outside layers, one layer at a time.

I just love the below shots and the volume of the finished piece. What a lush, pulpous and just damn comfy looking puff of a chair!! So do enjoy! As for me I'll be off to pack and sincerely hope to keep blogging daily even though I'll be travelling until the 11th of Nov. If I happen to miss a day, please don't be worried, it just means I'm having too much fun!!
